Arkansas - Voter Registration Information

VOTER REGISTRATION

All U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years of age and residents of the state, are eligible to vote in Arkansas. You may register in person at a number of agency-based locations, such as the County Clerk's office, the Secretary of State's Office, and the Department of Motor Vehicles. To register to vote by mail, pick up a Voter Registration Application at the post office or County Clerk's office, or request one from the Secretary of State, and complete and return the form to the Secretary's Office. These mail-in forms will then be forwarded to the appropriate counties. If you will not be 18 before the voter registration deadline, but will be 18 before Election Day, you can still register to vote.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS

If you know you will be unable to make it to the polls on Election Day, make sure your voice is heard by voting via absentee ballot! In Arkansas, you can vote absentee in person or by mail. If requesting the ballot by mail, you must do so no later than 7 days before an election, and be certain to include your name, address (both where you are registered and where the ballot should be mailed), your date of birth, and signature. If you are requesting an absentee ballott in person, you have up to the day before the election to do so. The completed absentee ballot must be returned to the local County Clerk's office no later than the day before the election. You can vote absentee in person at your County Clerk's office as early as 15 days prior to an election, and as late as the day before the election.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Arkansas does not require registration by party, therefore all registered voters may vote in the party primary of their choice, but not in both. When requesting an absentee ballot for a primary election, specify which party ballot you need.
