    The National Rifle Association today launched the second round of advertising in a national campaign aimed at exposing Michael Bloomberg’s anti-freedom agenda. The second ad of the "Meet the Real Michael Bloomberg" campaign is a powerful to-camera ad titled "Kim" and features violent crime survivor Kimberly Weeks speaking directly to Michael Bloomberg. The "Kim" ad is part of a $2 million plus national advertising campaign and will air on television stations across America.

  • Mark Kelly Lies About Gun Sales Before I 594 Vote

    Five weeks before voters in Washington State will decide whether to require “universal” background checks on firearm transfers, gun control advocate Mark Kelly lied on national television about how many such transactions occur without a background check. Asked by CNN, Kelly said (at 3:30 in the video), “right now 60 percent of all gun sales go--occur--with a background check. Why do we allow the 40 percent, the other 40 percent, to happen?” On their group’s website, they make the “40 percent” claim in its most common form, saying “up to 40 percent of all gun transfers . . . take place without a background check.” However they choose to word it, the claim is false, and even the media have been saying so for more than two years.

  • Fact Checkers Appoint Themselves Arbiters of What Constitute Gun Rights

    In the past, NRA has detailed the tendency of mainstream media “fact checkers” to skew information to support a particular viewpoint or agenda. This tradition continued this week as the Tampa Bay Times’ PolitiFact and the Washington Post’s Fact Checker both took issue with an NRA ad running against Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu. The ad correctly states that “Mary Landrieu voted to take away your gun rights,” following images of a mother at home with a child during a break-in.

  • Sick Joke MSNBC Blames NRA for Ebola Crisis

    In what appears to be an attempt to upstage Louis Farrakhan’s assertion that Ebola is an invented “race-targeting weapon,” MSNBC and gun control organization States United are pointing the finger at NRA for the ongoing public health crisis. According to their “logic,” NRA’s opposition to Obama’s nomination of anti-gun activist Vivek Murthy as Surgeon General has exacerbated the Ebola crisis, as Americans supposedly have nowhere else to turn for reliable information on the outbreak.
